THE NEST MISsiON STATEMENT

The N.E.S.T. Project is a mutual aid initiative that centers nurturing, empowerment, solidarity, and teaching in accessible safe spaces. We utilize youth-led, community-based learning and art sessions to foster personal, social, and creative development for K-12 youth in the Greater Malden and Boston area.

Nurturing: We nurture the development of healthy, intersectional identities and self-awareness through an emphasis on social-emotional learning and introspection.

Empowerment: We empower students to explore and express their multifaceted identities, build community and coalition, and advocate for underserved voices in their communities.

Solidarity: We create diverse and multicultural spaces for youth to build an inclusive community of advocates. We build cross-cultural solidarity and awareness by centering social justice and diverse narratives.

Teaching: We reinforce students' academic skills to fight pandemic learning loss while emphasizing strong literacy skills in low-income and immigrant households most affected by inequities.
